Hey, everyone! I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA recently! It’s been so crazy here with finals, friends, functions…haha and family…see a pattern? 😉 Anyway I am officially finished with my Junior year of college…how WEIRD is that? I wish time would slow down but at the same time I am so excited for all that is ahead! Especially this summer. Summer is my all time favorite season. Personally I believe I grow the most during the summers. Probably because I can make my own schedule, be with my family and really focus on the things I want to focus on.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want this blog to look like, be about this summer and I have a few exciting ideas so I’ll keep you posted (literally through posts) hehe! I’ve been learning so much about myself these past few weeks by really focusing on what I want my day to be like each morning and it is AMAZING what thoughts can do change your outlook or mood on a day. I know you’ve probably heard that but have you ever TRIED it? Seriously try it! In vision your day, your goals and the things you want become more realistic. All about discipline:)
Here are a few summer goals I have in mind: (I’m sure I’ll post a more in depth version later today or tomorrow!)
-Get my miles back up, specifically 6 miles every morning. Many of you know that I ran my first Half Marathon in Feb. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life! Since then I have continued running but have not kept my miles up so I am looking forward to laying out a schedule to do so! My house is only about 2 miles from Katy Trail and a goal of mine this summer is to run to the Katy Trail, run a little at the Katy Trail and come home!
-Blog more…:) Most summers this is easy!
-Read 5 (or MORE) books!
-Take Summer Online classes seriously………this will be difficult haha!
-Cook more! I want to learn more recipes this summer. As many of you might have seen I am a ToneItUp team member and loving every second! I plan on following their nutrition plan all summer to continue my healthy lifestyle!
-Enjoy time with my family (this isn’t really a goal but more of a “Yay, I’m excited for this type thing 🙂
I’m sure I’ll think of more but this is it so far! I believe goals are the key to setting standards for yourself, bettering yourself and PUSHING yourself to be the best YOU possible!

Good morning everyone! Today is going to be absolutely beautiful!! I’m having a little cup of coffee before a morning walk with my Mom. Why is spring so perfect? seriously?? It is so gorgeous and my FAVORITE time of the year. Everything is alive and blossoming. When I grow up I need to find a forever spring kind of place to live. Sunshine all the time. This week I have been pretending like I’m done with school which is probably a terrible idea for when I dive back into finals this next week….ew. BUT I can almost taste summer, especially mornings like this one. I am so thankful for my time at home to recharge and just be. My family is the greatest part of my life so I love being with them…missing Whitney though:) It’s going to be a great weekend!
I hope this weekend you get out and enjoy yourself! Head to a park, see a play, go swimming, just do something for YOU! 🙂
It’s taken me a while to really grasp that it’s ALREADY April? Where has the time gone? April is my favorite month. So much coming up and the promise of summer is finally here. Time to buckle down and get ready for a great summer. I have lots of goals to reach Summer 2012:) From the number of books I want to read to the number of miles I plan on running. It’s going to be a great summer.
I can look back on different times of my life and think, “Wow, I was really disciplined then! What happened?” And then I’ll try to answer the latter. Well, I got injured from running so much, I let my portion size get to big, it was easier to get up early then, I liked my old devotional book more, I had more time, less classes, or I just stopped caring! I see a trend. Excuses.
I recently had a quiet time that really hit home, it said that we often look back on times when God was “really moving”, or he was really present “back then.” Back then??? Where is he now? I know that answer but sometimes it’s so hard to get out from behind this wall we place up between Him and us.My hope for this week is to renew old disciplines and continue to live the life I am called to live. Happiness, goals, joy, passion, friendship, hope, peace and freedom are all available to you! You just need to reach out and grab them.

If you know me or follow my posts often you’ll know how much I LOVE a beautiful spring day, (or better yet a SUMMER day!) How adorable is this guy?? I LOVE spring!!!
Last night Whitney and I went to the mavs game with one of our best friends, Georgia! We have been friends with Georgia since 3rd grade and I can’t imagine my life without her. We had a blast at the game (it was a close one)! We also loved creeping on Khloe Kardashian as she was sitting on our row. Hehe! I am finally home. Nothing better than this feeling. Yesterday Whitney, Dad and I hit up the Katy Trail. I think I might have over done it by running home instead of driving back with them…woke up with my left hip hurting:( regardless I’ll probably fit some yoga in today or exercise of some sort! It’s going to be too pretty of a day not to:)
Today is Good Friday. The day that Jesus was crucified on the cross. For me. For every single wrong I have ever committed, every single ugly thought I have had, every poor decision I’ve ever made. All for me. Even if I had been the only person in the world He still would have bridged the gap from heaven to earth. Wow. I am overwhelmed this morning with the love of Jesus. As we are surrounded by the ones we love this Easter weekend, think of Christ smiling on us. He has already won the battle, it is our job to be faithful and live as though the battle is won. I hope that you will take some time to be still and think of all he has done for you. The cross is enough though, isn’t it? I hope to have that at the forefront of my mind today. Thank you Jesus.

I don’t know about you but Mondays are always my day to recoup (quickly) for the week ahead! This week will be a quick one I feel like, with just one test, tomorrow, and Whitney and I headed back to Dallas on Thursday…wahhhooo! Let’s do this! Just 3 more days with my ankle brace and 4 days until Spring Break!
This week I pray that every choice I make is a choice to be drawn closer to you. Lord protect my thoughts from negativity, comparison, doubt, anything that is not of you I pray you would protect me from. Let my actions reflect my love for you. Be with me always. I love you. Amen

I’m pretty much freaking out today because I’m one week (and one exam) away from PARADISE! This time next week the family and I, will be flying to LA for a quick stop (yay) and then back on a plane to Honolulu, Hawaii! We will be in Honolulu for a few days and then off to Maui! I can’t wait for all of the adventures coming our way! Seriously the thought of laying out by the pool, surfing, walking on the beach, ahhhhh just makes me SMILE! I don’t want to ramble too much before the trip cause I can only imagine how much I’ll have to say after so here are a few of my plans while in paradise:
- Relaxing <– DUH! I’m taking book requests!
- Surfing..I’m not a first timer but definitely no expert, it will be a blast to have Whitney and Trav with me this time and my Dad, who’s pretty much a pro! Mom might just watch….for sharks 😉
- Hiking! There are gorgeous hiking trails right outside our villas..this will be a must!
- Shopping…we will probably have to make a day out of this one!
- Swimming (pool and ocean)
- Possible a few bike rides 🙂
- Whale watching from our beach!
Here’s where I need your help! Any book requests? I could probably go through at least 3! I’d also like to apologize ahead of time for blowing up your twitter next week with instagram pictures…I’m sure to be a slave to my camera with all the beauty in the islands!
I really shouldn’t be doing a blog post right now..I mean really shouldn’t! I have an exam tomorrow that is literally going to kill me BUT I am feeling motivated and inspired right now so why would I pass up the chance to share those feelings with you? My roommate BriAnn and I were just talking about how recently I’ve been kinda down. Just hard on myself and really very little motivation for school, or much of anything, and I know I could blame it on my injury or the gloomy weather but circumstances like this shouldn’t determine my hearts feelings! See to me there is a difference between “mood”, “feelings”, and what I just called my hearts feelings. You’re heart is a place of extreme emotion like, joy, peace, desperation, anger, disappointment, all of those feelings well up inside of you and at times you can’t even figure out where they are coming from! Well with my recent absent-mindedness I have let gloom come in and hangout over my soul. I’m always counting down, thinking about what’s next or maybe even worse, “remember when”. And I’m SO happy that I’m recognizing this! Where is the present tense in all of this?! It isn’t even there! I am completely obsessed with memories of amazing days or trips or imagining all that is to come, and no, there isn’t anything dreadful about those thoughts but when they consume you and take you away from right now-the very present moment-well then you get yourself into trouble.
I guess my whole point of this post is to place into words some goals I have, that I have been so/so doing. but not anymore! Putting things out there allows you to have accountability and reminders of what you said you would indeed do! SO a few quick easy ones:
- I am planning on running the Bearathon with my big Elsa Kaiser in just a few short weeks! (Praying my foot will be in top shape!)
- Continuing daily quiet times and scripture memorization
- Daily Exercise (as soon as the Dr. okays it!)

And now for the kicker that I have been slacking on. Some of you may or may not practice lent and to be honest with you I don’t usually get very far into the Easter season without completely breaking my “promise” to God. This year my approach is different. I won’t get into a ton of detail but to really see my thoughts on lent head [here]. This year I was really wrestling with the idea of giving something up…especially something that would be HARD! Ew, who wants that?? Well I really have felt like God has been asking for more of me (as He will always do) and I have discovered through prayer, and time spent in thought that this Easter season I will be doing the Daniel Fast. It’s a biblical approach on fasting, and I believe God will use it to further my relationship with Him, my trust in Him, and a disciplined lifestyle!
I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about the Lenten season but I think it’s an amazing way to journey to the cross. Take time to think about what it is God is asking of you to give up..and join me! 🙂 We’re all in this together.
This past weekend was a BLAST! It was my Moms birthday. [Birthday post here] I think she had a great day! We went to Elite (classic Waco) before heading to watch Whitney in SING with Pi Phi. I was so sad I wasn’t able to be in SING this year BUT you will see me in the CrAzY mad hatter costume in PIGSKIN! Pigskin is a tradition at Baylor in the fall, the top 8 groups from SING get to go to Pigskin, quite the honor!My grandparents were in from Houston to see the show and it was so fun seeing them. I love you Papa and Gramma! I am blessed with such an amazing family.
Saturday morning we were able to celebrate DAD by going to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco for Pi Phi Dads day. That is always one of my favorite luncheons. Thankful for a Dad who has always been there for me. He is always encouraging me, always motivating and always reminding me who is in control in my life. Thank you Lord for giving me these two amazing parents. I am thankful for the example they’ve given me so someday I can attempt to be as great of a parent as they have been to me.
While this weekend was a blast my right foot has still been hurting. I was able to get into the doctor Monday morning, thank you Lord, and it seems I have tendonitis in my foot:( No running. I have an ankle brace now but it will be off in 7 days!! (10 days total) I am SO thankful that it will be off before Spring Break because we are going to Hawaii!!!! Still praying for quick healing. That’s pretty much the update on what’s going on in my world! Lots of tests coming up this week too! How is your week looking? Where ever you are I hope you have a wonderful week!
